It Started with a Cupcake…

In the early 2000’s, The Angel Network of Cooperstown, Inc. started with a very small group of concerned parents.  They recognized that a child wasn’t going to have birthday cupcakes to share with their classmates because their family couldn’t afford them.  Those parents began a mission and after a few years, worked hard to form our non-profit organization, The Angel Network of Cooperstown!

What We Do

The Angel Network of Cooperstown, a community-based 501(c)(3) organization, assists families with demonstrated need in the Cooperstown Central School District. Specifically, our goals are to:

  • Provide access to opportunities
  • Provide empowerment and stability for families
  • Provide community support
  • Stay committed to equality

To date, the Angel Network has helped families with basic necessities, gas cards, clothing, SAT fees, yearbooks, senior trip expenses, prom expenses, driver’s licenses, driver’s ed., school supplies, tutoring, furniture, summer camps, expenses to help pay the Clark Sports Center (fitness room), sports gear, Outward Bound expenses, winter clothing and more!

Our organization is unique.  When a request goes out for a child in need, we are usually able to fill that request within one day!  That means a child does not have to stay inside for recess because they can’t afford boots or a warm jacket.  This is all done confidentially through the school support team.

Our Future

So much progress has been made and there is much to be proud of, but our work has not extended far enough. Too many local families remain trapped in a cycle of disadvantage. Those families are often the poorest, and most socially excluded, in our society.

We are on a mission to meet the basic needs of students in the Cooperstown Central School District, while also providing experiences for children that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to have. Because transportation is often an issue for our Angel Network families, we help find ways for students to be able to go to the Clark Sports Center or to participate in after-school activities.

We ask you to join us on our challenge and help pave the way for all Cooperstown Students to benefit from all the wonderful things this community has to offer! Please consider supporting our mission with a tax-deductible donation, or volunteering with one of our many programs!
