My Neighbor’s Closet is an all-volunteer thrift shop located in Hartwick, NY. All items are FREE! If you are unable to visit the shop but are in need, please contact Angel Network and someone can shop for you and coordinate to get you the items.

My Neighbors Closet is located in a rented space on the second floor of the future Freight Wheel Cafe & Community Workspace building in the hamlet of Hartwick, next to the Hartwick Post Office. My Neighbor’s Closet shoppers and volunteers enter at the rear of the building and proceed up the stairs. Parking is available in the rear of the building or on the street. We follow the Cooperstown Central School District for closings due to COVID, School Vacations and Weather Closings.
If for any reason a shopper is unable to access the second floor, they are encouraged to place an order by calling 607-431-8320 and leaving a detailed message about the items they need. A My Neighbor’s Closet volunteer will then coordinate with them to collect the needed items, and they will be delivered to a waiting shopper in the rear of the building or on the first floor. Delivery of clothing to your home is also possible, if needed.
All shoppers are allowed to take 2-3 bags of clothing per person for whom they are shopping.
There is no cost to any shoppers. Those who would like to give a monetary donation may do so, and it is very much appreciated.
We welcome item donations at My Neighbor’s Closet! All donated clothing is to be cleaned before being delivered to the store. Deliveries of donations can ONLY be made to the store during open hours. If a Cooperstown drop-off is more convenient, items in plastic bags can be dropped off at 19 Eagle St. at Stephanie Nelen’s home, on her side porch, for later delivery to My Neighbor’s Closet.
Stephanie Nolan and Martha Clarvoe, committee chairs for My Neighbor’s Closet, would like to encourage community members as well as Angel Network Families to volunteer at the shop. Training is quick and easy and volunteers will always be with someone who has experience.
Volunteering at the Closet can be a satisfying, relaxing, and distanced social time with others in the community. Time can be spent signing up shoppers and volunteers, helping families to shop, sorting and storing clothing, and helping carry donation deliveries to the second floor. It can also be a time to visit with a friend, to read, knit, write letters, or to do work on the internet since you will have access to wifi internet.
